The Hunter Exams, Round 1

Saki nodded.
"Sounds fair to me."
For a few moments, she desperately tried to remember what exactly "Janken" was.
"Waiiit, how are we gonna decide it with that?"

Gavan paused "Geal and I will go, then you and Niki, winner pairs with winner loser pairs with loser?" Gavan was geting good at this planing stuff

Saki nodded. Seemed logical.
"Okay Nikki, so..."
She blushed a little. It was so emberassing to ask.
"Uhm, which... which one beats which, again? Was it rock beating scissors?"
She remembered something blurry about it, but no details.

"Rockbeatsscissorsscissorsbeatspaperpaperbeatsrock!" Nikki blurted very quickly. "Should I repeat?"

"Well Gavan, we better get this over with..." Gael said, preparing. He was going to do Rock, so he was hoping Gavan would go with Scissors.

Gavan threw down rock, then paper and smiled "alright so Im with the loser party" ge said simply

Saki looked at them curiously, then back at her own hand.
This actually looked easy.
"Oookay.... So, uhm..."
She would just do... scissors, she thought. So if Saki wanted to win, Nikki would have to do... paper? Yes, paper.
She smiled. No matter if she won or lost here, it wouldn't change that she'd become a hunter.

Nikki did the motions. "Rock, paper--" the moment of truth! "--Poke!" she said unexpectedly and suddenly poking saki (not to be a perv but just guess). "Just kidding!" She threw down paper.

[was tempted to put in her dialogue: "lol, jk! : )]

Saki stared at their hands at some time, before she got that she had won.
The girl confused her.
"Uhm.. poke?"
She insecurely poked her back. Maybe this was some kind of... ritual?

In response came another inappropriate poke. "So you won, that means you're with...." Nikki didn't know who won the boy's Janken match.

"geal" Gavan explained "and that makes Niki with me" he said holding four rackets and passing them out. How unfortunate

Gael took the proffered racket, spinning it in his hand. He was wondering whether to hold it at an awkward angle for no reason, or to actually try to make sense. It was decided in a heated battle that raged in his head for a good five minutes. He went with making sense, but only narrowly.

Nikki spun as she took her racket and her place next to Gavan. "Who's going to serve first~?"

Saki took her racket like a normal person would have, no spinning, no thinking about awkward things. In this group, that ironically made her the weird one.
She wouldn't even attempt to answer the question. She had seen tennis matches before, but never actually taken part in one. She didn't know the meaning of a serve, and she would definitely not ask. She had made herself look like a fool too many times already.

Gavan thought for a moment, even if they lost they would have one other chance against another team, but it was beter if they won right away "the winning side team I think" he said as Gavan was beter suited to defensive play

"Hehe, okay!" Gael threw the ball into the air, twisted and hit the ball backhandedly, sending it soaring at the opponent's court.

Nikki looked in the middle of a skip as she swung her racket and narrowly missed. Oops.

Gavan collected himself, there was no point in being angry, even if they lost it theyed have another chance next game, also Niki seemed to know more about tenis than he did "so thats a point for you then?" he said tossing the ball back to them

Saki caught the ball in midair and looked at it with the slight interest of someone who had just gotten their hands on something entirelly unknown, but not important to them.
"Yes, that seems to be a point..."
She smiled. This might actually work out.
Then she tossed the ball at her partner. She had forgotten his name. Was it...G.. Gary? Something like that. She'd make sure to ask him later.

Nikki pivoted like a turret ready to fire at gavan. "It's doubles for a reason! You have to help! Pull your own weight." then she mumbled "might be alot of weight to pull. Hehe."

Gael caught the ball a little too expertly before throwing it up and smashing it again. This time, however, it went more towards the side than the previous one, and Gael wasn't sure if it was going to go out or not.

Gavan wasnt going to let her under his skin, instead he focused on the task at hand

Saki started to feel a little weird about this situation. Maybe not weird, more like... disappointed?
She had been looking for a place to become a hunter. She had been prepared to face the biggest dangers there were, to take the hardest exams one had ever seen... And now... This?
A friendly tennis match?
This couldn't be right! She looked around. There had to be something else. This couldn't be it. There had to be a trick behind this. Just like with the cards.

Nikki hit the ball hard sending it zooming straight in between her two opponents.

"Swoosh?"
She was ripped out of her thoughts by the sound of the ball comming closer, and jumped towards it.
Unforunately, she was too late.
This is why you need to concentrate during a match.
"Gael!"
He was their last hope of still getting it. Was that allowed? She didn't know.
